The Honorary President of La Carrera Panamericana, Eduardo León, heeded the invitation that San Miguel de Allende made to him some time ago to receive La Carrera de México. The fastest classic cars on the American Continent, took the streets of San Miguel for the first time in 31 years.
Guillermo González, Manager of the Tourism Council and Francisco García, Director of the Historic Center and Heritage of the City of San Miguel de Allende, honored the finish flag of day 5 of competition.
The Grand Marshall, Mario Domínguez, thanked the hospitality and made an invitation to the followers of La Carrera Panamericana to visit one of the magical and spectacular places in the state of Guanajuato.
As special guest of La Carrera de México, was Joe Ramírez, a benchmark in world motorsports and who has also participated in this rally.
In terms of competition, the day started with a good face from Michoacán, a point at which, among others, the cars of Hilaire and Laura Damiron, Luis and Pablo Cervantes, Benito Guerra and Javier Antista, all of the Major Tourism category, were incorporated. ; demonstrating that in Mexico, the members of the mechanical services are first class.
Before leaving Michoacán, the pilots completed three of the six timed stages. The Oaxacan, Emilio Velázquez of car # 113, was awarded the first section in La Cascada.
In Mil Cumbres, Luis and Pablo Cervantes of car # 121, prevailed over the rest. Huajúmbaro, has the Damiron label, which already under the sky of the Mexican shoal, also won the stages in La Valenciana and Los Quiotes, leaving the S5, again to the Cervantes.
Among the teams that stood out the most this Tuesday, is the Porsche # 553 of the Historic B Plus, by the experienced Miguel Granados and Adrián Carmona, seriously outlining himself as one of the contenders for the title in his nascent category, proof of this, the best time (unofficial) in the overall of the day in their respective sector.
The Cervantes, wanting to make up for lost time, closed with the best time of the day, followed by the Damiron, who also did not throw in the towel and maintain their status as former champions.
San Miguel de Allende thus becomes the resting point of La Panamericana. Tomorrow the convoy will move to Zacatecas, in what will comprise the penultimate day of the race.
